Paul began this with a reminder. He said\u00a0\u201cbrothers and sisters, of the gospel that I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you\u2014unless you believed in vain.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>You will notice in verses 3 and 4 that Paul is pointing toward the Old Testament as the absolute authority, calling it the Scriptures for them. Everything that happened in Jesus\u2019 life was all prophesied years earlier.<\/p>\n As I was exercising today, I was listening to Casting Crowns. The song was \u2018Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)\u2019. I got caught up in the beautiful words of truth in the chorus.<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cLiving, He loved me<\/em> That\u2019s the gospel in a nutshell. Of course, he ascended back to the Father. And that\u2019s from which he will be coming again on that\u00a0glorious day<\/em>. The question for us is the same as it was for the Corinthians. Do we believe it, are we holding fast to the truth of the gospel? Hopefully, none reading this have believed it in vain. And I might add, are we living as those who are holding fast to his word? The world today, as maybe never before, needs to see the gospel lived out. It\u2019s our strongest witness.<\/p>\nGlorious Day<\/h3>\n
