This past week, we were blessed by the birth of our second great-grandchild, Elijah. Which means \u201cJehovah is my God\u201d. This is the second of our fourth generation. What a blessing to live and see (and bless) our daughter\u2019s son\u2019s child. He was born on the birth date of our youngest grandson, Renzo. Very special, indeed! Since I write poems of blessings to all of them, Eli received his first of what I hope is many more.<\/p>\n
This Psalm was written by Solomon. He went on to say:\u00a0\u201cLike arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one\u2019s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(vs. 4,5a) Generations are a fulfillment of Genesis 1 where God tells Adam and then Eve to be fruitful and multiply. Filling the earth with people who would trust him and worship him forever. God commands\/entrusts the patriarch of the family with the privilege to fulfill Psalm 78.1-8. Three and four generations being discipled by the previous generation. Whether you have children by natural birth or by adoption, all the promises apply.<\/p>\n In the next Psalm, we see a portrait of the family.\u00a0\u201c<\/em><\/strong>Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life!\u00a0May you see your children\u2019s children!<\/u>\u00a0Peace be upon Israel!\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(Psa. 128.4-6) This is a song of ascent as the Jews were marching up to Jerusalem to worship each year. They would be singing this and others as they journeyed.
