{"id":8872,"date":"2022-07-21T07:31:53","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T12:31:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abidingfathers.org\/?p=8872"},"modified":"2022-07-21T07:31:53","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T12:31:53","slug":"is-scripture-profitable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/af2.musiimes.space\/index.php\/2022\/07\/21\/is-scripture-profitable\/","title":{"rendered":"Is scripture profitable?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>God-breathed<\/h3>\n<p>Inspiration can accurately be defined as <em>breathed out<\/em>, or <em>God-breathed.<\/em> While it is his spoken word, it is infinitely more than just words or ideas. It has the very breath of God in it, inspired by his holiness and love. It is alive, active, and, yes, profitable. It is his truth within the words that make it that way. In the Beatitudes, Jesus tells us that <em>blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied<\/em>. This righteousness only comes in and through his word.<\/p>\n<p>It starts with a burning desire for God\u2019s word and its effective results in your life. The Spirit is that God-breathed instrument for inspiration. But for what is it profitable? Four that are set forth.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Doctrine\u2014showing us truth<\/li>\n<li>Reproof\u2014exposing our rebellion<\/li>\n<li>Correction\u2014correcting our mistakes<\/li>\n<li>Training in righteousness\u2014training us to live God\u2019s way<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And what is the \u2018so that\u2019 in all of this in his inspired word? Just this\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That the man of God may be <u>complete,<\/u> <u>thoroughly equipped<\/u> for every good work\u2026 or to put it another way\u2026 <em>we are put together and shaped up for the task God has for us <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Inspired<\/h3>\n<p>It starts with our decision to desire his truths in a deep and meaningful way. Our \u2018work\u2019 will not be manufactured or out of guilt; it will be motivated and inspired by his Spirit working within us through the truth of his word. In other words, we will be compelled.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cMy son, be attentive to my word; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh\u201d <\/em><\/strong>(Prov. 4.20-22 ESV).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>God-breathed Inspiration can accurately be defined as breathed out, or God-breathed.
