As we see things play out across the world, even in our own country, a natural tendency would be to be depressed and anxious. Everyone has a choice\u2026a natural worldview, or a Christian worldview. How you respond to events depends on the lens through which you\u2019re looking. Frankly, if it wasn\u2019t for a biblical worldview as a Christian, it would be very easy to become cynical and even angry at God.<\/p>\n
The insane war against the people of Ukraine cannot be explained apart from what we know from God\u2019s word. He has clearly said. \u201cYou will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom\u201d <\/em><\/strong>(Mt. 24.6,7a).<\/p>\n So, how do we respond to current events? Who can we trust\u2026certainly not ruthless dictators, media or even well-meaning leaders? The word of God is the only place you can find truth. God\u2019s eventual final plan for redemption of his creation is in his hands, and his alone. Christ is going to return as a conquering King\u2014count on it. But until that Day, there will be evil everywhere. God said it. And the Psalmist gives us a view of how he will deal with these events. \u201cCome and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire\u201d <\/em><\/strong>(Psa. 46.8,9).<\/p>\n Meantime, here\u2019s what our Lord promises. \u2018He says, \u201cBe still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.\u201d The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>(Vss. 10,11). He alone is mighty to save. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
