There is a child\u2019s game called \u2018What if?\u2019. Many of you may have played it sometime in your life, or something similar. The object is for someone, probably an adult, to pose situations to a child that they may face in real life. One might be\u2014‘what if you successfully climbed a tree, but you weren\u2019t sure how to get down\u2019. <\/em>Use your imagination. There are countless situations you could propose. Certainly, you would want to make them age appropriate. The child\u2019s mind will go wild thinking how they might solve the issue.<\/p>\n Maybe there is an adult \u2018What if?<\/em>\u2019 that we might consider. What if<\/em> you were convinced that Jesus was going to return to Earth in six months? How would you respond to that possibility? You know that is going to happen one day, maybe even before I get through writing this or you read it. Let me pose a situation relative to this what if<\/em>. To narrow it down a bit.<\/p>\n There are around seven billion people in the world today, infants to seniors. Many of them have never heard the name of Jesus, and that salvation only comes through faith in his finished work. There are thousands of religions, all works oriented, with no assurance through grace. This is my guess only; maybe there are at least five billion people living today alone who could end up separated from God for eternity; it\u2019s called hell.<\/p>\n Some might be your relatives, even close ones, your neighbors, co-workers, people entirely different from you, in your social life, even your church. Would you think differently about them and their eternal destiny? Would it move you to pray diligently and be the one that shares the gospel with them? Up to now, have you ever witnessed to anyone at all about the saving grace of Jesus? What about your children if you are a parent, maybe grandparent? Possibly I should ask\u2014do you even know how to share the gospel? Or even what it is? If he\u2019s returning in six months, might this be a good time to learn and get urgent in your sharing?<\/p>\n Paul the Apostle tells us\u2014\u201cFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also to the Greek\u201d <\/em><\/strong>Rom. 1.16<\/p>\n Would you take a short-term mission trip to a lost people group that you have thought about doing for years? Or give generously to that ministry that is committed to help save the lost or discipling them? The Spirit of God is always there, ready to instruct and empower you to accomplish the mission he has been sent to fulfill. It just may be the time to hit your knees, engage the Lord in a new and desperate way. \u201cThe effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much\u201d<\/em><\/strong> James 5.16b.<\/p>\n My purpose is not to put a guilt trip on you, but to challenge me and you to start seriously focusing on eternal things. To lay aside the trivial, and concentrate on the critical. My friend John Maisel shares this often. \u2018But as it is written; \u201cEye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.\u201d But God has revealed them to us through his Spirit\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>I Cor. 2.9-10a. Would you not want your family, friends, even your enemies to experience this for eternity?<\/p>\n Philippians 2.10-11 tells us this. \u201c<\/em><\/strong>That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0He will return.
