In early 2016, the vision for a movement was born. Abiding<\/em> Fathers is a ministry dedicated to helping fathers understand the God ordained role each has been given. We produced some great personal testimony videos, and in the process, the vision became a reality. The question to be answered was how and what would the movement look like. Through prayer and thought, the idea came forward to develop a website and begin challenging men to \u2018Be the Dad\u2026on purpose\u201d. So, we did. At that moment, www.bethedadmovement.com<\/a> was born.<\/p>\n So, what is a movement? One definition would be, \u2018a series of actions or activities intended or tending toward a particular end\u2019.<\/em> I think that describes it well. And what might that end be? \u201cMillions upon millions of fathers in America engaging or re-engaging their wife and children through servant leadership and discipleship within their home.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n Why is this important? Because we believe the absentee father is the number one issue in America today. It is epidemic! It transcends race, creed, color and every economic strata. Ask anyone; they will tell you the same thing. It impacts the economic, social, educational and criminal fabric of our society. \u201cBut, why now\u201d, you ask. Because if not now, it just might become too late for our nation to survive. The future and well-being of your children and grandchildren is at stake.<\/p>\n \u201cIs this a new thing, Bill? Where did this idea come from anyway?\u201d Great question. I wish I could say I had this original dream or thought. But no, the movement began thousands of years ago; actually right from the beginning of time. \u201cWhat, you say, how could that be? I need proof.\u201d Well, here goes. My authority is the very first chapter in the Bible. Actually, Genesis 1:26-28. It is God\u2019s original and current plan for us to prosper as his creation. Let\u2019s read the whole story.<\/p>\n \u2018Then God said, \u201cLet Us make man in Our own image, according to Our likeness\u201d\u2026So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them <\/em><\/strong>(4 things), \u201cbe fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over it<\/strong><\/em> (His creation<\/em>).\u201d\u2019 Friends, that is the start of the \u2018movement\u2019! (italics are mine<\/em>)<\/p>\n In plain English\u2014Prosper and Reproduce! Fill the Earth! Take charge! Be responsible! <\/em><\/strong>Adam could not do this alone, so God took Eve out of him while he was sleeping so they could fulfill God\u2019s plan, to begin a \u2018movement\u2019. Nothing has changed from this original blueprint. One man, one woman, married and faithful!<\/p>\n So, you men reading this, join the movement God started, take charge of your family, and become a responsible husband and dad. It starts by being present, observant and equipped. Absentee fathers, for whatever reason, cannot get it done. Become a part of the solution, not adding to the problem.
