Letters from Dad<\/a>,<\/strong> my wife, Carolyn,\u00a0threw a big family Father\u2019s Day\u00a0luncheon at our home.<\/p>\nAt the end of the meal my oldest daughter, Holley, stood up and declared \u201cDad, we didn\u2019t buy you one thing for Father\u2019s Day!\u201d With that she pulled a letter out of her purse and handed it to me with these spoken words\u2026 \u201cDad, I love you. Thank you for all that you have done for me.\u201d Behind Holley were 6 other young adult kids and my 3 year old grandson. Lined up like little ducklings, they each handed me letters of love and blessing.<\/p>\n
Do not grow weary<\/h3>\n
I was so overwhelmed. I could not even open the letters and read them at the table.\u00a0Another daughter, Rebecca, then stood and said \u201cDad, Holley lied\u2026we did get you a little gift. We got you this framed picture entitled Spiritual Warfare<\/span>.\u00a0It reminds us of the times we would come down stairs and we could hear you praying for us. We hope these letters and this picture will be an encouragement to you.\u201d \u00a0As I write these words, my eyes are filled with tears as I remember this moment.<\/p>\nThis large picture hangs just above my computer screen in my office. My letters are stored in a large envelope and attached to the back of the frame. At the bottom of the picture are written these words\u2026 NEVER. EVER. DISCARD THIS POSTER for it is the Treasure of my Life!<\/p>\n
The moral to my story\u2026 Never grow weary of praying for your family!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cFor the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers\u201d (I Pet. 3.12).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
